7 Korean Beauty Secrets korean Know That You Don't

When beauty editors are looking for fresh and emerging trends, we go to Korea and Korean women. Consider this: Korea invented BB creams, sheet masks, and cushion compacts. We hold these people in such high regard for their attractiveness because they have the kind of beautiful skin we can only dream about. Seriously, we're talking about real-life complexions that appear to have been Photoshopped with excellent accuracy and without the use of a lot of makeup. In fact, Korean ladies like the no-makeup makeup look. So we set out to discover the skincare and cosmetics techniques that Korean ladies rely on to get that sheeny glow, or mul-gwang.We enlisted the help of three beauty bloggers who are more knowledgeable about Korean beauty than others. Continue reading for a Korean guide to having the greatest skin of your life...

1. Use Pimple Patches for Blemishes

"Because Korean women are more prone to pigmentation, they take extra precautions to protect their complexion from dangerous UVA/UVB rays." "They wouldn't leave the home without it," says Charlotte Cho, CEO of Soko Glam, a website that sells the finest of Western and Korean beauty products, and author of The Little Book of Skin Care ($18). "They avoid direct sunlight by wearing hats, umbrellas, and gloves as required!"

Cho claims that Korean women utilise "natural skin brighteners such as rice extracts, vitamin C, and licorice, as well as exfoliators" when it comes to skincare. For obstinate dark spots, they will see a dermatologist who will use lasers to lighten the brown areas."

In terms of blemishes, Sheryll Donerson, the writer of the site The Wanderlust Project and a native of the United States, tells Byrdie, "When I taught at a middle school in Korea, all my ladies would put these pimple patches on their skin to assist with their spots." They are really brilliant! I only use them at night, however if you want to get rid of a blemish quickly, I swear by them. The COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch ($5) and the Missha Speedy Solution Acne Patch ($5) are two of my favourites."

2. Do Deep Cleanses Before Applying Makeup

Cleaning is the foundation of a nice complexion, according to Cho. "Cleansing is essential because excess oil, debris, and germs on your skin may cause premature ageing, dark spots, and breakouts," she explains. "It's critical to be proactive and keep your skin clean. Makeup will not look well without a clean base!"

Cho cleanses three times every day and provided her step-by-step instructions with us.

First, carefully remove obstinate pollutants from your skin using a cleansing tissue, giving special attention to the delicate eye region and neck.

Second, massage an oil cleanser into your skin to eliminate pollutants that are oil-based. Rinse.

Third Cleanse: Apply a cleaning foam to a damp face to eliminate water-based pollutants. Rinse well and pat dry.

Donerson says that powder cleansers are currently popular in Korea. "I adore them!" They're perfect for travelling with or throwing in your gym bag because there's no spillage or liquid limitations at the airport."

Try Bare Minerals Skinsorials for a unique spin on this trend. Mix. Exfoliate. Smooth. ($18).

3. Add Face Oil to Your Foundation for Improved Hydration

"[Mul-gwang] is all about staying hydrated!" "You can create that bright, dewy complexion by using mists, sheet masks, and layering your moisturiser," Cho advises. "There are also various eye creams and primers on the mark
et that are laced with pearl extracts, which can absorb flaws and capture light to make your face seem bright, which undoubtedly helps."

"If you have dry skin, consider adding a facial oil or serum in with your foundation," suggests Morgan Stewart, a Korean-American and founder of the website and vlog The Beauty Breakdown.

4. Invest in a More Extensive Skincare Routine

"I know it's frightening and might appear to be a bit pricy, but it's worth the time and money invested!" "In my perspective, layering is the biggest game changer," Stewart adds. "Most individuals only use a face cleanser and moisturiser. However, never underestimate the benefits of exfoliating, toning, essence, and sleeping packs!"

5. Tap Your Skin, Don't Rub It

"I like tapping my skincare in rather than rubbing it in." It's not just gentler, but it also seems like a ritual. I also recommend chilling your sheet masks for an extra refreshing pleasure at night!" says Donerson. Lightweight, water-like skin products such as essences, as well as the more recognised serums and moisturisers, can be applied to the skin.

6. Use a Product With Snail Mucin

"If I had to pick a Korean product, I'd go with the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence ($15)," Donerson adds. "It's truly 96% snail mucin, and it does an incredible job of removing any skin irritation while still being highly moisturising." It makes my skin sparkle like nothing else."

Mucin, for those who are unfamiliar, is the slime secreted by snails when they are agitated (so not one for vegans). "There is anecdotal evidence that proteins in snail slime have anti-aging advantages," New York plastic surgeon Matthew Schulman told The New York Times. "Clinical investigations have looked at that, as well as reversal of UV damage, and showed improvement." "Snail slime will not aid deep folds, but it will enhance skin texture and quality".

7. Go Lightweight for Dewy Skin

"One of my favourite Korean trends is the Korean dewy skin appearance," Donerson explains. "Dewy skin is more young and lifelike."

Cho recommends starting with a radiance-boosting primer like IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer ($28) to obtain the Korean dewy shine.

Donerson advises a BB cream, BB cushion, or any lightweight foundation to keep things dewy. The goal is to use something light so that your skin seems natural.

Makeup is an excellent technique to improve gwang, especially if you have oily skin that cannot tolerate excessive skincare. "Use a little liquid highlight to add shine," Stewart suggests. "Son & Park offers a fantastic cube highlighter!"

Donerson recommends putting a shimmering highlight to the eyes and cheeks to enhance the dewy appearance even further. Although it is not Korean, we enjoy the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Beige ($48) for highlighting the face.
